Grab your lover and run for cover! The People’s Prom celebrates it’s 5th anniversary and 2012 with a post-apocalyptic theme that is sure to be the bomb. This LU Radio fundraiser will feature the doomsday grooves of DJ Luv, Fabulous Dave, Miss Temperance and JAFO. Plus …all the prom goodies are back: Best and Worst dancer competitions, crowning of a king and queen, a “what the hell we’re all going to die anyway” kissing booth, and a whole bunch more. Dressing up is a must, and tickets are available at Calico, The Growing Season and LUSU.
As usual, this event will take place at the Finlandia Hall, is 19+, tickets are $10 and doors open at 9pm on Friday February 10th.
Some new shows are making their way to our airwaves this week!!
Starting overnight tonight (Late Thursday, early Friday) from 1-3am the new Comic Book and Pop Culture show Where Monsters Dwell from New Brunswick begins airing on CILU. You can find out more about them at www.wheremonstersdwell.ca . Friday at 11am, Big Picture Science makes its official timeslot debut on LU Radio. You may remember that we brought this show on as a tester over the holidays and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can find out more about them at: http://radio.seti.org/ . Then we move ahead to Tuesday where Health First (another holidy trial show) begins airing from 1-2pm. Find out more about this great natural and alternative health show from B.C. here: http://www.cfisfm.com/shows/health-first-show.html
More new shows are coming very soon, many of which will be replacing some of our overnight rebroadcasts but we’ve got some neat tricks up our sleeves as well.
Sadly we are saying goodbye (or at least ‘See You Later’) to a few shows as well. Awake and Alive finished its run last week, the 9-10pm slot on Monday will now be held down by Drumspeak Music, which moves from Tuesdays at 1pm. Robin Ranger has put Strictly Off The Record on hiatus for now, but we have a new show beginning on the 25th of January entitled Valve which will focus on Brass Band music to jump into the Wednesday 8:30-10pm timeslot. The Soul Kitchen is also ending its run that week and a new old school Hip Hop show entitled The Pile Drive will take up residency in the 11pm-Midnight on Saturday slot.
That’s it for now. Don’t forget that we’ve got Derelicte happening on Saturday January 21st at Black Pirates Pub, it’s going to be a whole lot of fun!
