On January 9th, CILU’s concert series continues with performances from The Seaside Villains, Morning Light, and Forever Dead! at the Outpost. Every Friday before that concert, we’re going to feature some fun facts about each of the bands. Last week we covered Forever Dead! This week it’s the Seaside Villains.
The Seaside Villains have been bringing a high energy ska-reggae-rock show to the Thunder Bay music scene for more than 4 years now, playing hundreds of shows in the process. Their sound has been likened to Sublime, the Aggrolites, Against Me!, and others, all the while bringing a very west coast warm sound to the cold northern Ontario and surrounding music clubs. Their goals are simple: to have a great time, and to ensure that the audience is having an equally rocking time, shaking their money makers. The current Seaside Villains are Ryan Furchner (vocals & guitar), Eric Westelaken (guitar & vocals), Dave Angell (bass), and Josh Hogan (drums).
Here are some fun facts about the Seaside Villains:
- They were originally called Party at the Moontower.
- They’re on drummer number nine.
- They’ve done three eastern Canadian tours.
- They’re working heavily on their next album, release date to be determined.
Here they are performing the Cadillac Victory Song at the Black Pirate’s Pub:
Come and see the Seaside Villains for only $5 on January 9th! All proceeds go to help fund the Gender Issues Centre and CILU.
