Some More Changes And Updates!

May 11th, 2010 by Station Manager

Seems like I’m constantly updating shows changing lately! Today is no different at all! We’ve had a couple of moves this past week, unfortunately I was under the weather and didn’t get this posted earlier, I apologize! Genre Miscellaneous can now be heard on Tuesday Nights right after The Flyest, so 10pm-Midnight EST. Moving in to the spot vacated by Genre Misc. will be Sara Nanaimo Bars and Outside The Rectangular Prism. She’ll be moving from Thursdays at 8am to Saturdays at 6pm EST. Which means our ladies block returns to Saturdays (all female hosts from 2pm-9pm!), a good thing all around, I think! We also have a new show that starts Tuesday May 18th at 1pm, DJ G-Fresh is now bringing you a little electronica and dub step to get you moving again after lunch every Tuesday! His show is called ‘Twisted Tuesdays‘. It seems Record and Tape are a big hit as well, and their show ‘Turntables and Fables’ will not only air Sunday’s from 8-10am but we’ll also be bringing you 1 hour episodes Monday to Friday from 7-8am. It’s a great start for kids in the morning, a little radio entertainment instead of television and maybe a little rest time for Mom and/or Dad while trying to get the older kids ready for school?!

We’re also doing some shifting of radio shows beginning next week. Make sure to check the schedule to see who is moving where. We have some new shows coming in but lots of spots to fill up in the mean time. Some of your favourites are going to be doing some slight shifts but nothing that will make you cry, I promise!

For you social network buffs, don’t forget that you can follow us on Twitter, our account is going to become very active soon as we’ll be doing some contests specifically through twitter AND we’ll be launching a new myspace page very soon. Our old one seems to have decided we don’t need to access it any longer so…a new one will be coming soon. Keep an eye on the side bar for the new icon to appear!

There will also be some new content coming to the website very soon, so keep your eyes open for that! In the meantime, if you have questions or feedback, please get in touch! manger[@]luradio.ca is the place to find me! Oh, and just remove the [] from around the @ symbol…I get way too much spam to encourage it here!
Thanks!!

The Changes Continue

April 30th, 2010 by Station Manager

Well hello! It’s been a little while since I’ve updated and lots of things have changed here. Some good changes, some very sad changes. It’s the time of year where shows end and new shows start and now is the time to talk about that I suppose!

The Departures: ‘That’s What She Said’ has come to the end of its run. Ms. B has moved on to new things outside of Thunder Bay, and we certainly wish her well! ‘Crank It Up Country’ has ended its run for this year, but Grant and Nancy will be back in September, watch for them to make their return at a day and time to be determined! ‘The Breakfast Club’ has also ended its run, which sees us bid goodbye to both Trevor Cava and Dave Grad. Dave has been with us for over 2 years as host of The O Show and his own show as well and his bad taste in 90′s music will be missed…sort of. The new LUSU Exec will be hosting a show during that timeslot beginning closer to September, so keep your eyes and ears open for that. Gender Issues Centre Radio is on hiatus for the summer, and will return in September. Until then we will bring you W.I.N.G.S. and World In Progress during the 11am-12pm timeslot on Wednesdays (as well as the normal 7am-8am slot on Friday). The Thunderwolves Sports Desk has called it a day. At this time, there is no immediate plan to replace them, but we’ll see what happens closer to the new school year. LTPB Jukebox has also vacated for the year. Again, I’m not sure what the next year will bring with them but keep your eyes and ears open!

Probably the saddest departure for a lot of us around here saw longtime show Lies And Music bid farewell last week. Jon T is off to the wilds of southern Ontario with his wife, and we wish them the best! Will is still around and I’m sure he’ll resurface on the airwaves sooner than later! The 10pm-Midnight timeslot on Tuesday is yet to be filled but I think we’ll see something new in there very soon.

The Arrivals: Jess has arrived with a new show entitled ‘The Session’ Tuesday mornings from 9-10am. Downtempo chill out music for those of you who prefer to ease in to their mornings. Maria’s Mix Tape has officially moved to a 2 hour timeslot, 1-3pm on Wednesdays. Geeky, glitchy indie rock and oddities for you. Both great additions to the LU Radio line up!

For now, that’s it, but we have more shows coming and plenty of interested programmers. Though, if you are interested in becoming a programmer or just helping out at the station, feel free to fill out a ‘Help Out‘ form and we’ll get in touch!

The schedule will be updated soon.

Oh, and one final thing, Turntables and Fables, LU Radio’s new kid show has had to post-pone it’s initial launch by one week, so make sure to tune in May 9th 8-10am for the new show!

Time’s Making Changes On CILU

April 13th, 2010 by Station Manager

Hey hey!! As per usual, things are changing here schedule wise! As you’ve no doubt noticed, the Aboriginal Radio Hour has now ended and morphed into Four Directions Radio please tune in and check them out at fourdirectionsradio.shawwebspace.ca. Never fear though, Gloria Ranger will be back with a new project soon! Pushing the Envelope is making a slight move, now on Tuesday nights at midnight pushing Night Fright back 1 hour. A brand new show hosted by DJ Mancini starts this week. Wednesdays at Midnight you can tune in to hear Unity Radio. Find out more about DJ Mancini at www.djmancini.ning.com Mary Rose has left us for the world of commercial radio, however Jason Caron has moved Genre: Miscellaneous into the Sunday 6-7pm timeslot. A new show will be moving in to occupy the vacant Wednesday morning timeslot soon though, so don’t worry! And for those of you who enjoyed Mud Puddle radio, the great new news is that we have a local kids show starting on May 2nd!! It will occupy the same timeslot as Mud Puddle did previously and will be titled Turntables and Fables. More info on that coming soon! With the school year rapidly coming to a close we’ll be temporarily losing some shows as well. Keep your ears and eyes peeled for new things to come!
