My sincerest apologies, I’m not sure where my brain has been this week! A quick update to let you know that tonight (Thursday February 18, 2010) between 10pm and Midnight, After Hours will be premiering the debut album from Thunder Bay’s own Makeshift Astronaut. One of the truly unique and exciting things about this venture for us here at LU Radio is that the band was originally formed around programmers here at the station (or spouses of…). In any case, make sure to tune in to After Hours for a little bit of Thunder Bay Music Scene history in the making…

It’s Thursday Already?! I still haven’t had my Monday coffee allotment! Well, I guess I’d better get you all caught up and get me caught up as well!!

Starting tomorrow morning, Friday February 12th, we welcome Samira Saramo back to the LU Radio fold! She will be doing 2 shows back to back: ‘Uprising in the Morning’ will take place from 9-10am featuring eclectic music with themes to inspire and then from 10-11am ‘Raising Joy’ will happen, focusing on all things related to natural parenting! Make sure to tune in!! ‘W.I.N.G.S.’ and ‘World In Progress’ will make the move to earlier in the day, they will now take the place of ‘Newslink’ from 7-8am right before ‘Happy Hour’. ‘Deconstructing Dinner’ will move to 10am on Mondays and ‘Earthbeat’ moves to 7am on Wednesdays right before ‘Route 666’.

Starting Monday, February 15th, ‘Blowing Up The Lakehead’ is moving back to the 10pm slot on Monday nights which will move ‘Night Fright’ to Tuesday nights at midnight. Confused? Well there’s no need for that! The new schedule will be up this evening so make sure to double check the times for your favourite shows!

Don’t forget that this weekend, Saturday February 13th is the 3rd Annual People’s Prom with proceeds going to benefit The LUSU Foodbank and LU Radio. It’s always a lot of fun and always sells out quickly so, if you don’t have your tickets yet, get out to Calico Coffeehouse, The Loop or The Growing Season and get them ASAP!

Tuesday February 23rd is the Homelessness Marathon from Montreal and LU Radio is proud to not only be broadcasting it, but we’ll actually be sucking it up and hosting an hour from 1-2am live! I still haven’t called/confirmed guests because I’m a slacker but I will update next week with more info!

Friday March 5th we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary on air here at 102.7FM and kicking off a month of events and fundraising here at LU Radio. The 12th we will be hosting a shag style fundraiser/birthday party at the Finlandia Club and on the 27th and 28th we will be hosting a Radio-A-Thon with lots of live guests while we try to raise money for LU Radio. More information to come next week so make sure to stay tuned!!!

The 3rd Annual People’s Prom takes place on Valentine’s Eve, Saturday February 13th at the Finlandia club. Dress up in your favorite space costume for a night of intergalactic romance. There will be a crowning of a space king and queen, a kissing booth, robot dance competition, and plenty of surprises. All proceeds will be donated to the LU Food Bank and LU Radio. Tickets are only $10 each, available at Calico, The Growing Season and The Loop. The event is, however, 19+
